Embracing the Strength of My Past Self

Embracing the strength of my past self: Current and past selves holding hands, offering support and encouragement.

I remember feeling inferior and constantly comparing myself to others. I believed that others were always better, that their lives were always brighter, and I often felt sad and alone. Whenever I tried to think positively, there was always a backlash—an emotional crash. I now understand that my inner critic was the one constantly putting me down, belittling my worth.

This was me just a few years ago, overwhelmed by despair. But now, when I reflect on how far I’ve come and the mental health I’ve achieved, I truly believe that there is always a way to find hope, even in the darkest of times.

Compared to that past version of myself, my mental health has improved dramatically. I don’t want to go back, and I don’t think I will. I want to encourage the version of me that’s moved beyond that pain.

Yet, I can’t forget that the old me wasn’t “bad.” That me went through hardships, and those struggles led me to journaling. Those experiences also helped me become more empathetic, understanding the feelings of others more deeply. Even though it was hard, I endured, and I want to celebrate that strength within myself.

Interestingly, many others have gone through similar struggles. When I looked into it, I found many people online sharing their stories of hardship and healing. I wasn’t alone, and that truly encouraged me.

It’s been a few years since I started journaling, and it hasn’t always been easy. But I can confidently say that my self-esteem has improved, and my mental health has drastically improvedmostly through my own efforts.

The foundation of this journey has been building a close relationship with myself—making sure I am in tune with my own feelings and creating a space that feels comfortable.

Ultimately, journaling has been a tool that not only allowed me to document my thoughts but also helped me show kindness and gratitude toward my past self.

About Me: Hi, I’m Evolving Mind. Through this blog, I share my journey of self-discovery and mental well-being. Journaling has been a powerful tool for me, and I hope to inspire others to find their own path to peace and clarity.
