Self-Deprecation Has Disappeared From My Life

A joyful smile surrounded by celebratory fireworks, symbolizing the triumph over self-deprecation and embracing positivity.

Today, I was revisiting some of my old journaling entries.

A few years ago, I had written a heartfelt wish in my journal: “I want to break free from the harmful habit of self-deprecation.”
Reading those words now left me astonished. I was shocked to be reminded that I had once felt that way. Even more surprising was how much I’ve changed since then.

For years, self-deprecating thoughts and language had been a recurring theme in my life. It was a deeply ingrained habit, one I wasn’t even fully conscious of at the time. And now, looking back, I can hardly believe that version of myself existed.

What Changed?

Reflecting on how I got here, I realized that journaling played a pivotal role in my transformation.
Through journaling, I began questioning many of my negative patterns. I didn’t just question them—I actively worked toward positive change. I encouraged myself, wrote about what things make me feel energetic and good, and these slowly shifted my mindset.

It wasn’t an overnight change, but a gradual process of filling my life with positivity. And now, I can confidently say that the self-deprecating tendencies I once battled are gone.

Embracing the Positive

I’ve come to know myself deeply—what makes me proud, what brings me joy, what challenges excite me, and what truly makes me happy. With that knowledge, I’ve learned to consistently choose what feels good and aligns with my values.
I also realized that self-deprecation is inherently unpleasant. By focusing on what feels good and right for me, the habit of self-deprecation naturally faded away without me even noticing.

A Simple but Powerful Realization

As I wrote this, my thoughts became clearer: When you fill your life with good things, there’s no room left for the bad.

Instead of focusing on eliminating what doesn’t serve you, try crowding it out with things that do. The shift happens naturally.

This is what I want to share today:
Don’t fight to remove the negatives. Focus on filling your life with positives, and the negatives will take care of themselves.

By using one of the powerful journaling styles I share in the blog articles below, I’m confident that you can begin filling your life with positives.

It’s a short reflection, but I hope it resonates with you. 😊
